Social media is often where brands drift first. Different people post, deadlines are tight, and soon your feed looks like five different businesses.
Consistency doesn’t need a big marketing department. It needs a simple system.
1. Build a template library
Create reusable templates for your most common posts: announcements, tips, testimonials, events, products and quotes. Canva is great for this, and lets anyone on the team create on-brand posts quickly.
2. Write a mini voice guide
One page is enough:
- Three words that describe how you sound (for example: friendly, expert, straightforward)
- Phrases you use and phrases you avoid
- Emoji and hashtag rules
- Two or three example captions
3. Set image rules
Decide on a photo style: bright and natural, moody and dramatic, people-focused or product-focused. Pick a filter or editing preset and stick with it.
4. Use content pillars
Choose three to five themes you post about regularly, like behind the scenes, tips, customer stories and offers. Pillars keep content varied but recognisable.
5. Plan ahead
A simple monthly calendar reduces last-minute posting, which is where most inconsistency creeps in.
6. Add a quick approval step
Even a two-minute check by one person before posting catches off-brand content, typos and mistakes.
7. Review monthly
Look at your grid as a whole. Does it look like one brand? What’s performing best? Adjust accordingly.
